How To Overcome Trouble

22 Nov 2014 Service – Marcus Lamb

14 The spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness,
But who can bear a broken spirit?
Prov 18:14

Sometimes bad things happen to good people.

12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 2 Tim 3:12

4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, 8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.

10 Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, 11 searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. 12 To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things which angels desire to look into.13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 1 Pet 1:4-13

What kind of trouble are you facing today? When the devil has a plan to take you out, God has a plan to take you in.

#1. Your trouble is NOT PERMANENT
Tough times don’t last, tough people do
17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,”
Says the Lord.
Isa 54:17

If you don’t give up, you can’t be defeated.

9 then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, 2 Pet 2:9

Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them all.
Psa 34:19

28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Rom 8:28

#2. Even in trouble, God is WITH YOU
18 Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field. Gen 3:18

14 And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exo 33:14

17 You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.” 2 Chr 20:17

7 The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him,
And delivers them.
15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
And His ears are open to their cry.
Psa 34:7, 15

God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Psa 46:1-2

In You, O Lord, I put my trust;
Let me never be put to shame.
Psa 71:1

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
Psa 91:1, 2, 15

13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name;
The upright shall dwell in Your presence.

18 The Lord is near to all who call upon Him,
To all who call upon Him in truth.
Psa 145:18

10 Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
13 For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand,
Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’

Psa 23.. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; …walk THROUGH

God has the divine ability simultaneously to see time past, time present and time future.
Before your troubles, God saw it before it ever happened. And He can see your victory in advance as well!

57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Cor 15:57

14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” Exo 3:14

8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Heb 13:8
