14 Also the sons of those who afflicted you
Shall come bowing to you,
And all those who despised you shall fall prostrate at the soles of your feet;
And they shall call you The City of the Lord,
Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
19 “The sun shall no longer be your light by day,
Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you;
But the Lord will be to you an everlasting light,
And your God your glory.
Isa 60:14, 19
Both Isaiah and John had the same revelation. Whose builder and maker is God (10 for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God. Heb 11:10).
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14 For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. 15 And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them. Heb 11:13-16
We want to build a….
#1. City of REDEMPTION
City will be the same except there will be no more sin, sicknesses, temptations etc
All of life right now is nothing more than a preparation for everything we will do when we enter heaven.
9 Surely the coastlands shall wait for Me;
And the ships of Tarshish will come first,
To bring your sons from afar,
Their silver and their gold with them,
To the name of the Lord your God,
And to the Holy One of Israel,
Because He has glorified you.
13 “The glory of Lebanon shall come to you,
The cypress, the pine, and the box tree together,
To beautify the place of My sanctuary;
And I will make the place of My feet glorious.
Isa 60:9, 13
Camels and ships of Tarshish were symbols of economic power and wealth.
When God judges, it’s never to destroy but to prune. In order to build up. In order to take away the bad things so the good can come. When the fire of God comes, it is not for annihilation but for purification.
A redeemer restores, redeems, renews.
6 The multitude of camels shall cover your land,
The dromedaries of Midian and Ephah;
All those from Sheba shall come;
They shall bring gold and incense,
And they shall proclaim the praises of the Lord.
We become agents of God’s redemption and restoration.
#2. City of CREATIVITY
11 Therefore your gates shall be open continually;
They shall not be shut day or night,
That men may bring to you the wealth of the Gentiles,
And their kings in procession.
Wealth of gentiles is not just talking about money but all the innovations and inventions.
24 And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. Rev 21:24
#3. City of LIGHT
23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. Rev 21:23
The lamb is its light
For your light has come!
And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.
2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,
And deep darkness the people;
But the Lord will arise over you,
And His glory will be seen upon you.
3 The Gentiles shall come to your light,
And kings to the brightness of your rising.
20 Your sun shall no longer go down,
Nor shall your moon withdraw itself;
For the Lord will be your everlasting light,
And the days of your mourning shall be ended.
Isa 60:1-3, 20
10 if you pour yourself out for the hungry
and satisfy the desire of the afflicted,
then shall your light rise in the darkness
and your gloom be as the noonday.
Isa 58:10 ESV
Share God’s love.
When we serve the weak and needy, mend the brokenhearted. When we spread the gospel.
14 For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come. Heb 13:14
Commitment is the foundation for all relationships.
Why are vows powerful?
1. Expression of love
Not for bondage but to liberate for love
Psa 22:25 TLB
2 Cor 9:5
2. Vows protect a relationship
3. Vows motivate us to act
4. Vows move God into action
