House for God (Arise & Build 2014)

08 Nov 2014 Arise & Build Service – Kong Hee

Why do we arise and build?

#1 Legacy for Eternity

13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants, to whom You swore by Your own self, and said to them, ‘I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven; and all this land that I have spoken of I give to your descendants, and they shall inherit it forever.’”
Exo 32:13

9 So Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed the Lord my God.’ Josh 14:9

Why does God want to give us a land for all eternity? God loves the earth very much! He created it!
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.Matt 6:10.. On earth

Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth. Matt 5:5

9 For evildoers shall be cut off;
But those who wait on the Lord,
They shall inherit the earth.
11 But the meek shall inherit the earth,
And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
18 The Lord knows the days of the upright,
And their inheritance shall be forever.
22 For those blessed by Him shall inherit the earth,
But those cursed by Him shall be cut off.
29 The righteous shall inherit the land,
And dwell in it forever.
34 Wait on the Lord,
And keep His way,
And He shall exalt you to inherit the land;
When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.
Psa 37:9, 11, 18, 22, 29, 34

Prof Paul Marshall, author “Heaven is not our Home”, said that Heaven is not our destination! We are going to inherit a new earth!

20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself. Phil 3:20-21

What does it mean to be in a new earth, new heaven?
New (gr kainos) means renewed or refreshed.

A world with no more sin, wickedness, war, etc. It’s just a continuation of current earth but one that’s cleaned up. It’s called the New Jerusalem.

24 And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. 25 Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). 26 And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. Rev 21:24, 26

All glory and honor… Means all human achievements of value. Any inventions, development, innovations etc. All those human things are going to be brought in.

13 Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.” Rev 14:13

#2 Legacy with Inheritance
We want to leave a legacy for our children, and our children’s children and so on. Secure a future for generations to come!

22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children,
But the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.
Prov 13:22

#3 Legacy for Blessing

11 since the time that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel, and have caused you to rest from all your enemies. Also the Lord tells you that He will make you a house.

12 “When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14 I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men. 15 But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you. 16 And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever.”’” 2 Sam 7:11-16
1 Kings 11:12-13 – God was trying to bring Solomon to repentance, because of the promise to David, his legacy.
1 Kings 15:1-3 – God was still preserving Abijam because of David..
120yrs later..
2 Kings 8:17-19 – Jehoram was preserved including the whole nation because of David..
270 yrs..
2 Kings 19:34-37 – Jerusalem was about to be destroyed…. “For my own sake and David’s sake”..
All because one day David stood at the balcony and said I will arise and build.
