The God Who Sends

The God Who Sends

12 Jul 2014 Service – Kong Hee

God is a sending “Missional” God.

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:

“Whom shall I send,
And who will go for Us?”

Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
Isa 6:8

16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. Matt 10:16

18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. Jn 17:18

21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” Jn 20:21

“The word ‘SENDING’ is the sum and substance of God’s creativity and activity.” (Georg. F. Vicedom)

Imago Dei, “image of God” — the creative God who wants us to creatively engage culture (Gen. 1-2).

Missio Dei, “mission of God” — the God on a mission to redeem, renew and restore a broken world (Gen. 3 to Rev.)

This is the whole bible! God is on a mission and so are we! It’s a lifestyle for every single believer in the church.

14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. 2 Cor 5:14-15

16 For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel! 1 Cor 9:16

20 and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law; 21 to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law; 22 to the weak I became as[d] weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. 23 Now this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I may be partaker of it with you. 1 Cor 9:20-23

14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? Rom 10:14

Nobody gets saved just by being around you. If you don’t tell them how would they know?

If we only do good deeds then what difference are we from other social organisations like The Red Cross etc

We become different when we build friendships and meet their needs in the name of Jesus. Imago dei must be followed by Missio Dei, if not we miss the purpose of God.

The power of Actual evangelism.

15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15

Friendship evangelism isn’t evangelism if Jesus isn’t mentioned. It becomes culture without Christ. Crossing over without taking the Cross.

Mk 16

World = kosmos (gr)

to preach to every creature…

Cultural heroes like Daniel and Joseph were also “Soul winners”!

34 And at the end of the time I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me; and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever:

For His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
And His kingdom is from generation to generation.
Dan 4:34

16 So Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, “It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.” Gen 41:16

25 Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dreams of Pharaoh are one; God has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do: Gen 41:25

32 And the dream was repeated to Pharaoh twice because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass. Gen 41:32

18 Then Joseph said to them the third day, “Do this and live, for I fear God: Gen 42:18

22 By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel, and gave instructions concerning his bones. Heb. 11:22

China is world’s largest atheist country.

Country culture may restrict you. If you are in a country with freedom to preach the gospel, then what are you waiting for??!

All the prosperity, blessings, healing, successes, is to give us more capabilities and means for the kingdom of God, to save the lost!

You’re never too young to serve God, to save the lost. You’re never too important, too big shot.

God can use anyone, as long as you have a passion to save the lost.
