The Parable of the Pearl of Great Price
45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, 46 who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it. Mtt 13:45-46

How do we get pearls? From oysters…

It is the product of removing irritants like sand which gets in. It will secrete nacre and it makes the sand less irritating. A sac then encapsulates the sand, removing the sharp edges of the sand. Over time it becomes a pearl.

Nacre, also known as mother-of-pearl, is a composite material produced by some molluscs making up the outer
coating of pearls. It is strong, resilient and iridescent (lustrous, shimmering, rainbow-like).

The pearl is the only gem that is formed by a living organism. The greater the pain, the bigger the pearl.

19 The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass. Rev 21:19-21…..The foundations were made up of minerals by nature..

V21 .. but only the gate was made of pearl!

7 Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. Jn 10:7

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Jn 14:6

20 Remember how I told you that servants are not greater than their master. So if people mistreat me, they will mistreat you. If they do what I say, they will do what you say. Jn 15:20 CEV

The 7 Irritants Of Life You Will Encounter:

#1 Irritation of the HUMAN BODY
Jesus put his divinity aside to bring a human

5 Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. Heb 10:5  … why did He need a body? Because the wages of sin is death. He needed a body to die, so that he could become the sacrifice for the world.

V7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come—
In the volume of the book it is written of Me—
To do Your will, O God.’”.. Jesus had to read the Bible like u and i.

He wasn’t omnipresent, he had to walk. Occasionally had access to a donkey. He experienced hunger and physical exhaustion. He needed sleep.

As a human, the son of God must totally depend on his heavenly father.

Secrete FAITH!

#2 Irritation of HUMAN NATURE

The drive for…
Self preservation. Food. Sex. Possession. Dominion. Worship.
These drives are necessary for our lives, but if it gets out of control, destroys us. Gluttony. Fornication, adultery, divorce. Greed, cheating, robbery. Selfish, self centred, prideful. Who do we worship? Money, fame, etc.

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Gal 5:16, 17, 25

Secrete the PRESENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT!

#3 Irritation of TEMPTATION
Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry. Lk 4:1-2 …. Satan is the tempter.. Not God. And temptation will only work if you already have a weakness in that area.

V3: 3 And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”.. Satan challenged his IDENTITY. Satan always throws doubts at u, making you doubt God’s word and God’s work.

V13 KJV: 13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.… Even for Jesus, temptations came. And it will keep coming back! The devil only departed for a season.

Temptations are not one off events, they will keep coming!

28 Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations. Lk 22:28 .. He had many Temptations…

To be tempted is not sin. To be yielded to the temptation is sin.

15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Heb 4:15 .. Jesus was tempted at all points!

Confess night and day. Focus on God and speak out what is written.

#4 Irritation of MISUNDERSTANDING

66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. Jn 6:66

Form a sac and contain it, don’t let it poison your soul!

How did Jesus do it, He brought it to His Father. And the Father’s love and acceptance covered all His misunderstandings.

#5 Irritation of SLANDER
53 And as He said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to assail Him vehemently, and to cross-examine Him about many things, 54 lying in wait for Him, and seeking to catch Him in something He might say, that they might accuse Him. Lk 11:53-54

24 Now when the Pharisees heard it they said, “This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.” Matt 12:24

Devil means slanderer; Satan means accuser.

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Rev 12:11

13 For I hear the slander of many;
Fear is on every side;
While they take counsel together against me,
They scheme to take away my life.
14 But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord;
I say, “You are my God.”
Psa 31:13-14

Commit the slander to God, vengeance is not yours.

#6 Irritation of SUBMISSION
A committed christian is to submit to the will of God in everything. It gives you tremendous power and authority.

42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” Lk 22:42 .. submission is not easy

Submission is not true submission if it’s not willing.

You become a Baroque pearl. Not worth anything.

#7 Irritation of ABUSE
Jesus was the most abused just before He died. Physically, sexually.. Stripped naked.

But what did He do?

34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”..Lk 23:34 ..He forgave them!

Cover the abuse with forgiveness!

27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which[a] is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Col 1:27.. How does God want us to be salt and light of the world?
Saturate all these irritants with love, forgiveness, God’s power and word!
