True Worship (Part II)

08 Sep 2013 Service – Phil Pringle

A Hymn of Faith
17 Though the fig tree may not blossom,
Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the olive may fail,
And the fields yield no food;
Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
And there be no herd in the stalls—
18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will joy in the God of my salvation.
Hab 3:17-18

He didn’t care how bad his circumstances were, he chose to praise and worship God.

Why do you say, O Jacob,
And speak, O Israel:
“My way is hidden from the Lord,
And my just claim is passed over by my God”?
Isa 40:27

38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” Mk 4:38 – they only complained, didn’t praise or worship God!

We must learn to complain less, and praise and worship God even more! Even in the bad times, when we don’t feel like doing so.
15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. Heb 13:15

What can we worship God for?
A. Worship God For Your Past
When you start to worship God for your past then you can start to rewrite history.

B. Worship God For Your Present

Thank God for everything you’re facing now.

Oh, how great is Your goodness,
Which You have laid up for those who fear You,
Which You have prepared for those who trust in You
In the presence of the sons of men!
Psa 31:19

If you’re a worshiper, there’s blessing in the pathway facing you.

Praise for the Lord’s Mercies
A Psalm of David.
103 Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psa 103:1-5

This person is speaking to his soul, summoning his soul.

3 Things About True Worship
#1 True worship is about the word ‘All’

#2 True worship blesses His Holy name

People all around the world blame God for all sorts of disasters and bad things. But God is Holy, pure integrity. He is transparent, no shade of darkness, His core is pure light and integrity!

#3 True Worship Forgets Not

We are not forget the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ!

2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 2 Pet 1:2

We need to remind ourselves and constantly revive our soul.

How many times do we live life in repeat? Our favourite movies, songs, etc. All the more we need to do it for the scripture! We need to keep repeating them, getting new revelations!

12 For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth. 13 Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you, 14 knowing that shortly I must put off my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me. 15 Moreover I will be careful to ensure that you always have a reminder of these things after my decease.2 Pet 1:12-15

The trouble with trouble is it hijacks your mind. It makes you forget what you need to remember and remember what you need to forget.

Learn to live in a world of positivity and faith. Forget not all his benefits.

Remember the story of the ten lepers… Only one came back and thanked Jesus for his healing. We must be like him, and not forget about the one who gave it all for us.

12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”

14 So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.

15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.
Lk 17:12-16

Don’t forget who is He!
