More Than A Conqueror

More Than A Conqueror

24 Aug 2013 Service – Kong Hee

The bible said that David was a conqueror. This means that he made conquering a lifestyle. Overcoming problems are a norm!

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written:“For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Rom 8:35-37

We are more than conquerors through Christ who loves us! Your life is not going to be easy. There will be trials and tribulations.

Consistent conquering had its roots only in God. Conquerors are made by God!

David was only five feet tall. But he had never lost a single war. How? He was appointed by God. He was anointed by God.

You are appointed. You are anointed.

When God allows you to face a trial,  He will give you an anointing that is proportionate to the level of the problem. You must also pray and receive your anointing!

Everyone was scared of Goliath
24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him and were dreadfully afraid. 1 Sam 17:24

Who is YOUR Goliath?? Your Goliath may be called another name. Cancer, divorce, bankruptcy, depression, addictions…

And you become dreadfully afraid. Afraid of not being able to overcome them.

What did David do?
#1 He maintained a winning attitude
He guarded his thinking, his mindset.

36 Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.” 1 Sam 17:36

God moves according to how you think! Your intercession can only work when your thinking is in line with the word of God. Prayer is only 30 percent verbal but 70 percent thought!

20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, Eph 3:20

#2 He visualised Goliath defeated
He visualised the Name of the Lord!
45 Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

He visualised striking him and chopping his head !
46 This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

Even Jesus visualised!
18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Lk 10:18-19

He did it by faith! Because it is in Revelations, it is in the future! It has not happened.

#3 He really believed in God.
37 Moreover David said, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.”

46 This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

1 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
   Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water,
   That brings forth its fruit in its season,Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
Psa 1:1-3

9 I will walk before the Lord In the land of the living. 10 I believed, therefore I spoke, “I am greatly afflicted.” Psa 116:9-10

#4 He kept speaking out what he believed
30 Then he turned from him toward another and said the same thing; and these people answered him as the first ones did.31 Now when the words which David spoke were heard, they reported them to Saul; and he sent for him. 32 Then David said to Saul, “Let no man’s heart fail because of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine.”

Keep confessing and speaking out! Confess the word of God. Spoke to your Goliath boldly!

45 Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 47 Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.”

23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Mk 11:23

Our world around us is created by our words! God’s address is in you,  he lives in your heart! What you see, he sees. When you speak, he speaks. There is power in your words!

No matter how big your Goliath is, you can defeat him by your thinking, visualising, believing and confessing!

54 And David took the head of the Philistine and brought it to Jerusalem, but he put his armor in his tent. – He put his armour in his tent.

Why??

As a reminder of his faith for the remainder of his life. As a reminder of his victory.

You are more than a conqueror in Christ! You are appointed and anointed!
