The Bible is a historical book that men throughout ages that extracted wisdom on how to run government, relationships, business, economics. Even though it touches on all those things, that’s not what its purpose is for. It’s purpose is to reveal that God is moving human beings in a specific direction. 66 books over a period of 1500 years by some 40 different people; kings, priest, patriarchs, farmers, to reveal the plans and purposes. No other religion can produce that many witnesses.
God only gives Adam and Eve one rule: Do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. In chapter 3, we read about the intrusion of this character called the serpent. This serpent sought to corrupt what God has set in motion.
God wants to create a society of free moral agents whose freedom comes from their obedience. When you do whatever you want to, you get yourself into bondage.
The greatest threat to freedom is freedom. Financial freedom comes from discipline, not by anyhow spending on what you want. The fall took place when Adam ate. God went looking for Adam, not Eve. The responsibility is with the man. This drama begins and must carry on for thousands of years.
And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” So the Lord God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life. Genesis 3:13, 14
The Woman, the Child, and the Dragon
The serpent must have been upright in its movement before the Fall. Back to v15. So the woman is going to have a baby. It’s going to be a male child. Eve purposely named the male child Seth; she probably thought she was the women mentioned by God. In revelations, the woman has 12 stars.
Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth. And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born. She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne. Revelation 12:1-5
This set in motion the slaughter of male children in order to intercept Jesus. Her child was called up to God and to the throne. Jesus resurrected, ascended into Heaven and sat down at the right hand of the father.
Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days. Revelation 12:6
The woman who has this child is actually Israel. Throughout the history of Israel, there has been this tension between the nation of Israel and Satan. In spite of all this genocide, the nation of Israel continues.. in 1948, in Tel-Aviv a good of Israel leaders declared itself a nation. So from Genesis 3:15 all the way of the end of the book of Malachi., which is where the Gospels begin. Several thousand years, from Gen 3:15, God prepares for the seed to be born… it was the Old Testament, the period of preparation. But for the seed to be born, the woman also had to be born.
God didn’t kill everyone during the period of Noah because he had to preserve the Seed. But nobody knew who it is except for God. But it is behind the scenes through human history. He raises up a leader called Nimrod called the Babylon. But God dealt with that empire and forced it to spread out. Nations were born under the different language system. Up to the Tower of Babel, there was only one humanity. A few 100 years later, God calls Abraham out of a world and enters into a covenant with him. Out of him will come a great nation, rules, and a Seed.. through that Seed nations of the earth shall be blessed.
What is that key that bonded the covenant was faith. By this faith, and his faith was counted for righteousness. in faith the covenant is established. Abraham passes it to Issac to Jacob to Joseph.. then a man emerges by the name of Moses, its purpose is to form a nation called Israel.
Out of Moses comes the Woman, Israel, And from the birthing of Israel, it grows, goes through turmoil. So on and so forth.. the judges, the kings. David prophesied in the Psalms. He allowed them to go into captivity to preserve the Seed during the days of Daniel. Then multiple empires came and left..
And Daniel prophesied that the Seed will manifest. All this preparation for the Seed, All those involved had to have faith. 4000 years of human history to prepare for the Seed. All brought forth what was called the manifestation. And after the manifestation, the Messiah King makes an offer to the nation. The kingdom of God was at hand, within reach, but the nation as a whole rejected him. So he brought the message to Gentile nations.
Purpose of Acts: Propagation. The story of the manifestation is now being passed from one generation to the other. Acts 1:8. Matthew 28:19-20, On the day of Pentecost, Jesus organized them into the church.
During this time, God needed a intellectual apostle. 2 revelations: Grace, and the church.. these two revelations became the epistles, Which was explanation. So Paul writes from Romans, Corinthians, Thessalonians. Then Peter, John and Jude joined in. But its actually an explanation of the manifestation.
Revelations – Consummation or completion
Once the church is born, the church takes the foreground, and Israel and the church takes the background. And the church goes into the background in Revelations 4, and for good reason.
A panoramic view of the Bible:
Old Testament – Preparation for the Seed
Gospels – Manifestation of the Seed
Acts – Propagation of the Seed
Epistles – Explanation of the Seed
Revelations – Consummation of the Seed
But the common theme through all of it is Faith.
In conclusion, when you have a crisis, it may be related to the problem but that is not the problem.
You may have a crisis related to money but it is not a money crisis.
You may have a crisis related to relationships but it is not a relationship crisis.
You may have a crisis related to health but it is not a health crisis.
Everything single crisis, is a crisis of FAITH!
The only question to ask is, Are we going to trust God or not? Are we going to believe in His word or not?
At the end of the day it is always a crisis of faith.
He wants me to have faith in what He’s done, so that we can have in what He’s doing. He didn’t give new promises.. but I can trust Him for what He’s done.
