Walking With God
03 May 2013 Prayer Meeting – Wu Yu Zhuang
God wants to have a relationship with us!
1. It’s important to walk with God
31 But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
An old elderly grandpa, who is having heart problems, has to walk to to the doctors for his weekly heart checkup. But no one except the doctor, and himself, knows if he has been making the walk to the doctors faithfully every week.Similarly, the your walk with God is only between you and God. Only you know if you have been walking with him, and only God knows the condition of your heart.
Are you walking with God?
2. Satan hates it when you walk with God
When you walk, especially near the beach, grains of sand get into your shoes. And it’s the grinding of the sand between your toes that make it hard to continue walking, that makes you want to give up.
It’s not the big things that hinder our walk with God but the small and little things, those little grains of sand. In fact usually it’s the big things that draw us to God.
15 Catch us the foxes, The little foxes that spoil the vines, For our vines have tender grapes. Songs 2:15 – It’s the little foxes that ruin us!
9-10 Sometimes I ask God, my rock-solid God, “Why did you let me down? Why am I walking around in tears, harassed by enemies?” They’re out for the kill, these tormentors with their obscenities, Taunting day after day, “Where is this God of yours?”Psa 42:9,10 – Day after day..28-29
And that’s not the half of it, when you throw in the daily pressures and anxieties of all the churches. When someone gets to the end of his rope, I feel the desperation in my bones. When someone is duped into sin, an angry fire burns in my gut. 2 Cor 11:24-29 MSG – Daily pressures and anxieties..It’s the day to day little things, the daily hurt and distractions, the pressures and anxieties, the temptations – those little grains of sand stuck between your toes.
“It’s okay if I don’t go to service or cell group.”
“It’s okay to tell a small lie once in a while.”
“It’s okay if I just watch a little porno once in a while.”
“It’s okay if I play mahjong occasionally, to keep my mind ‘active’.”
“It’s okay if I do the things and follow the ways of the world for a while.”
No it’s not okay. It’s these little things that will slowly accumulate day by day, and eventually stopping your walk with God. You need to start getting your life back on the right track, and do something about it.
But somehow, when you try to dust off the sand, or wash it off with water, the sand never seems to go away. There will always be those few grains of sand stuck to your feet.
3. Jesus never designed you to wash your own feet
You were never meant to wash your own hurts, hope your anger, and pain. Let Jesus wash them away. Jesus is still in the business of washing your feet!
5 After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. 6 Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?” 7 Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.” Jn 13:5-7
Stop trying to wash your own feet, trying to find solutions to your problems and doing things by your own strength! Learn to trust in God and let him do the washing and cleansing.
You just need to walk with Him. And He will walk with you, supporting and looking out for you.
