How To Live A God-Guided Life?
26 Jan 2013 Service – Paul Scanlon
23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. 25 I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread. Psa 37:23,25
We often ask God to reveal and show us. People sometimes refer to this as “the fleece”.
The Sign of the Fleece
36 So Gideon said to God, “If You will save Israel by my hand as You have said— 37 look, I shall put a fleece of wool on the threshing floor; if there is dew on the fleece only, and it is dry on all the ground, then I shall know that You will save Israel by my hand, as You have said.” 38 And it was so. When he rose early the next morning and squeezed the fleece together, he wrung the dew out of the fleece, a bowlful of water. 39 Then Gideon said to God, “Do not be angry with me, but let me speak just once more: Let me test, I pray, just once more with the fleece; let it now be dry only on the fleece, but on all the ground let there be dew.” 40 And God did so that night. It was dry on the fleece only, but there was dew on all the ground. Judges 6:36-40
But the truth of the matter is, God wants you to make the first move, to take the first step!
God guides steps, God is drawn to motion, activity, action, progress..
God would rather you make a wrong decision than no decision.
God can be many things but he will never be your chauffeur. God won’t drive while you sit in the backseat. God wants you to take steps, it doesn’t have to be accurate, or good enough.
Abraham knew his blessing wasn’t attached to a place or direction, or an event or situation. The blessings will come regardless if you live a god-guided life.
Don’t expect God’s guidance until you move. Just move. Attempt something.
GPS: the GPS only tells you directions when u approach a turn or a junction. It won’t tell you if you’re on the correct road or not, or give you feedback, until it needs to say something.
Also it doesn’t matter if you’ve taken the wrong direction, there will always be a recalculation. You will get to your final destination no matter!
God works the same way. God won’t say much, until He needs to. You just have to take the first step and move!
Don’t be “unless you show me, I’m going!”
Be “unless you stop me, I’m going!”
You never need to know what Jesus would do, you just need to know who is. If you have an intimate relationship w God, you will understand His will.
Just do it! If you feel the peace then you know it’s from God. Because peace is the only thing that the devil can’t counterfeit because he don’t have any.
