Righteousness in Christ

19 Jan 2013 Service – Kong Hee

Shame is at the root of all addictions. Shame and addiction can always be found together. Shame and guilt does not fixed problems but perpetuates them!

21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Cor 5:21

God doesn’t want us to be sin-conscious!

34 Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame. 1 Cor 15:34

1) Righteousness Gives Us Great Confidence In Prayer

21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. 22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. 1 Jn 3:21-2216 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Heb 4:16

The effective FERVENT prayer of a RIGHTEOUS man avails much!! (James 5:17)

2) Righteousness Gives Us The Grace To Reign In Life

We are to reign as kings in this life!

17 For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.) Romans 5:17

21 so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 5:21

Righteousness of God is a gift. And who we are in Christ 2 Cor 5:17 – We are a newcreation (more here)

Amplified version:
“Ingrafted in Christ”

17 Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come! 2 Cor 5:17

Ingraft: To insert, as a scion of one tree, shrub, or plant in another for propagation; as, to ingraft a peach scion on a plum tree; figuratively, to insert or introduce in such a way as to make a part of something. Webster’s Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913)

Jesus is the vine, we are the branches. When we are connected to the vine, the life flows into the branches and we grow as one.

We were raised when Christ was raised. We share all the authority that Jesus Christ has.

18 And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.” 19 Then He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” Exodus 33:18-19

20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, Eph 1:20 ~ Right Hand = place of authority

6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, Eph 2:6

Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. 2 From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Psa 61:1-2

Locating where you are spiritually is vital, you gotta know where you stand! If you know where you stand, you will know which direction to go!

How? Read the Bible! Know who you are in Christ, know what you have in Christ!

9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; Col 2:9

14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. 2 Cor 2:14

37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom 8:37-39

Be bold to speak to your mountains! You got to believe it!

I am what God says I am.
I have what God says I have.
I can do what God says I can do.
