The 5 on-going ministries of Jesus Christ

1) Jesus Christ is our great High priest

21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Cor 5:21

17 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. Heb 2:17

11 But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come,[a] with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. 12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. Heb 9:11-12

A priest represents man to God. Atonement means covering.

God will not remember our sins!

25 “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins. Isa 43:25
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds[a] I will remember no more.” Heb 8:12
Sin (singular): Sin nature of man
26 He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. Heb 9:26
Sins (plural): Evil acts of sin
28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. Heb 9:28

2) Jesus Christ is our advocate

Advocate: lawyer who speaks in our defense against all accusations and condemnations.

9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. 1 Jn 1:9-10

2 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. 1 Jn 2:1-2

Calvinism vs Arminianism

Salvation is pre-destined, Jesus decides. Once saved always saved.

Born again and again. Fearful of losing salvation. Hardworking and high standards

So which? The key is balance.

We have eternal security of the believer, but we must also stay in Christ.

6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; Philp 1:6  12 If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. 2 Tim 2:12

4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 if they fall away,[a] to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame. Heb 6:4-6

3) Jesus Christ is our intercessor

Intercessor: petitions on behalf of one in difficulty for others
Save (Gr. Sozo) means to make us completely whole in spirit, soul and body. 25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
Heb 7:25 22 But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour. Matt 9:22 56 Wherever He entered, into villages, cities, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well. Mk 6:56
